Cruise In Car Show – Cuyahoga Falls

My sister Liz, brother Mike and stepfather might feel justified in learning that I’ve finally seen the light. They’ve been going to car shows for YEARS, and somehow the bug never seemed to spark my interest. Now that I’ve been to one, I get it.  Of course, I get to entertain myself in two ways – by looking and photographing – so maybe that adds a little extra fuel to my tank.

The people who show at these events seem generally quite friendly and pleasant – which would make sense because they are present to share with all their fondness and passion for restoring – and glorying – these gleaming remembrances of days past. What an AWESOME hobby!

As usual, I failed to take my wide angle lens out of my pack, so I hope you enjoy details.

I’m Just a Dog … In the World

I’m Just a Dog…In the World

(That’s all that they’ll let me be…)

Some of  you may have figured out that I like to snap off a song title here and there, so good for you if you both noticed and forgave me at the same time.

I was at a car show the other day, and while I actually did take pictures of cars, I was taken in by this dog. And if you look closely, you might notice his gaze is torn between me and another object far to the right in the first picture.

Water Studies

Water Studies

I spent one afternoon hanging around a waterfall just to play, as there is something primal about every aspect of water – its sounds, its feel, the way it moves, snaky but free.

Doris - I think I like #30 the best. #16 looks like some kind of glass sculputure of some kind.

admin - Thanks for checking in on the poll, Doris! So far, there is no one photo that stands out…except that I am in agreement with one person on one photo, but I’m not sure that my opinion counts!

Cuyahoga Falls

Apparently I haven’t been paying much attention to what’s been happening in the Falls (you Akronites know what I’m talking about): There’s a whole load of things to partake of in and around the river walk area – fountains, restaurants, meeting rooms, shops and an entertainment complex that hosts concerts in the summer and ice skating when the weather turns cold. While the old building are charming, the boardwalks wind along the length of the strip to the river side – all set to the soundtrack of  falls and mills as they grind out a pleasant kind of white noise nearly loud enough to make one forget that the freeway is barely more than a stone’s throw away.
